Understand the Choice. A standard French press’s metal mesh is coarse enough that some fine grounds always slip through, which is part of why a cafetière cup tends to feel fuller but grittier than a filtered one. Timemore’s plunger uses a genuinely tight, 0.35mm stainless steel mesh with a food-safe silicone seal, which catches far more of those fines while still keeping the fuller body a French press is known for.
Borosilicate glass is straight off the boil and through a dishwasher cycle without any risk of cracking under sudden heat. At 450ml, it’s sized for a single generous cup or two smaller ones – a stylish, compact, everyday press.
