Understand the Choice. Bean and grind get most of the attention, but water is the biggest ingredient in any cup by a huge margin, and most UK tap water – especially in medium to hard water areas – carries enough chlorine and mineral content to flatten a coffee’s flavour before it’s even brewed. Peak Water’s jug is built specifically around that problem: test your tap water with the included strips, dial the filter to match, and it treats the water to a profile suited to brewing rather than a generic “cleaner tasting” filter jug. It’s designed and made in the UK, which is also where most of the hard-water problem it’s solving actually lives.

Fill from the tap, run it through the dual-ion resin and carbon matt filter, and it’s ready for your kettle – no plumbing, no installation, just a jug that lives in the fridge between brews. The filter setting is fully adjustable rather than one-size-fits-all, so once you know your water’s hardness from the test strips, you can tune it rather than guess.

The jug takes one of two replacement filter types: the Precision filter it ships with, or the longer-life Endurance filter, which trades a little of the Precision filter’s finer mineral control for a significantly longer life between changes. Both are fully recyclable through a pre-paid Royal Mail returns scheme rather than going in the bin.
