This Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee is a sweet and very complex Grade 1 single-farmer microlot specialty arabica coffee, produced by Desalech Musie in the Yirgacheffe district of Ethiopia.

A woman coffee producer and mother of six, Desalech farms 1.6 hectares of land around her family home in Harfusa Waro, within the renowned Yirgacheffe region. This single origin Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,902 metres above sea level, an environment well known for producing some of Ethiopia’s most distinctive and aromatic coffees.

She cultivates heirloom coffee sub-varieties including Kumie, Diga and Wilsho, with the plants shaded by Acacia and Sudan Teak trees. These traditional growing conditions contribute to the clarity, complexity and floral character typically associated with high-quality Yirgacheffe coffee.

This lot of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe specialty coffee was naturally processed and dried on raised African beds for 18 days, allowing the sugars in the coffee cherry to develop fully and resulting in a vibrant yet balanced cup.
